Since Dozie Kanu’s first appearance in PIN–UP in 2018 alongside Jonathan Olivares, the Texas-born Lisbon-based multi-hyphenate has expanded his practice beyond art and design to encompass exhibition-making, film, music, and so much more.

For a special collector’s edition cover photographed by Jim C. Nedd for the PIN–UP 40 Independence Issue, Kanu packed a van with works from his studio and drove south to the Portuguese city of Lagos — the perfect setting for a conversation with Victoria Camblin. There, he reflected on his upbringing and heritage, and traced the full range of his practice — from his new Knoll table collection which just débuted at Salone del Mobile to his solo show at Fondazione ICA Milano.
